There is no "fast" option for naturalisation, no premium or same day service. Naturalisation is not an immigration application, it comes under British Nationality laws. UKVI quote a six months processing time, but it could be as little as little as one to three months. For the rest of the questions I recommend you start with the links in this topic:
british-citizenship/new-uk-visa-and-cit ... 67059.html
I second that. You will never get application feedback for naturalisation within 24hours. The "new service" is just a facilitator since the HO are out of their depth to process all these visa, perm.res. and citizenship applications. The decision is still being made at the HO and their process has not changed.

I believe by then it will only be the new provider for submissions.

You have to provide the marriage certificate and spouse's British passport. A marriage does not have to be registered in the UK.

Hi to all the immigration gurus,

Can you please tell me whether, under the new online application, one can apply for both naturalisation and passport at the same time?

I am aware that this was possible under the old system (via NCS). However, after searching, it is not clear to me whether this is still an available option under the new system.

Thank you all!

No you can't. You will only be able to apply for a passport once you have attended your ceremony.

Good evening everyone! Many thanks for such great website. Please could I ask a question about traveling after application?

I have applied online on 14 November using Nationality Document Returns Service in my local council. Can I travel while I wait for the decision? I know it now says here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/ukvis-new-f ... pplication that if you apply after 2nd November and use the new service you can’t travel, but what about the old one?

Thank you.

Hi All,

Just had my Sopra appointment today. Had a first appointment of the day - 10am, the whole process took 1.5 hours. Taking my photograph took a while - system didn't like the lighting/shadows. Fingerprints were quicker. The rest of my appointment was scanning and uploading documents. Sopra employees were very nice, but they are also learning on the fly. All along, I was planning to submit paper application - with document check service . Therefore, my referees signatures were obtained in October and November on the old form (they live in different part of the country, total 12 hours of driving to get those precious signatures). When I called to book appointment ''old-fashioned way'' in the end of November, I was delighted to learn that local services are all booked up, and there's a new process.. Hope my referee info on the old form will be OK with the government

Just want to check the progress of your application, Have you received any decision yet or not,
Best regards

Hi,

thank you for the information.
Do I understand it right that you got a confirmation of receipt of your information on the first working day after online submission and before you had submitted your documents?
I was a bit shocked to notice that I only got a receipt for the payment when I submitted yesterday but not for receipt of the application.

Does anybody else know what determines the "receipt of the application" by the Home Office? It matters to me since I was on holiday 5 years ago around this time, but not on the day of the online submission nor on the date I submitted my docs via the National Document Return Service but on two days afterwards, so I really need to know when the Home Office acknowledges receipt.

Thank you Baerli

Hey, shakeerahT thank you for the information, I am just filling in the application myself as well - super easy but got stuck on the attaching of the documents, more specifically the photograph.

Can I assume you send over a photograph of yourself with the full name and date of birth on the back as required in the paper application? Couldn't see anything mentioning the photograph in the Document Checklist at the end of the application.

For those that are choosing the online application route, this is the 'Documents' part of the application that I see - sharing this info as tax :) hoping this helps!

Mandatory documents

These documents are mandatory and you must provide them as part of your application. Tick the box to agree that you will provide each document: (Required)

1) The passport issued by (Applicant's Country) for (Name of Applicant)

Other documents

If you do not provide these documents, your application may be delayed or refused. (Required)

2) (Name of Applicant)'s Life in the UK Test pass notification

3) Proof of living in the UK for (Name of Applicant)

If you are an EEA National, you need to include letters from employers, educational establishments, or other Government Departments indicating your presence in the United Kingdom during the relevant period.

If you are an Non-EEA National, you need to include your passport to prove you have lived in the UK for the past 5 years (3 years if you're married to, or the partner of, a British citizen).

If you don't have your passport, or it wasn't stamped when you entered the UK, you need to include letters (for example, from your employer or government department) as proof.

Bank statements or household bills are not suitable proof you've been living in the UK.

4) Two referee declarations for (Name of Applicant)

5) (Name of Applicant)'s evidence of identity
You must include one of the following:
* your passport
* your national identity card
* your Home Office travel document
* your Home Office entitlement card
* your Home Office ARC letter
* your BRP card
* your birth certificate
* your driving licence

You must include evidence you have legally changed your name if it is now different to the one on your supporting document.

If you took the Life in the UK Test and used one of the above documents as evidence, you should use the same one here.

6)(Name of Applicant)'s proof of Nationality
You must include your:
* passport or EEA national identity card
* UK permanent residence card
* evidence of freedom from immigration time restrictions

You must have a permanent residence card before you can apply for citizenship Apply for a permanent residence card.
Please note I have numbered the above for clarity, however, some of the documents overlap (e.g. can be covered by passport/EEA national identity card).

I can also see that the requirement for English language test is not present on my application as I have shown my degree for my Permanent Residence. Might be different for other applicants.

Thank you,
Hi, daisyd the photos required will be attached to the printed referees declarations. in this case, you ll need two passport photos, because you will print out one declaration per referee.
I go through this website daily for guidance , so its only fair to share my exeperience with others who may get help from it.

my current Timeline at the moment :
I submitted my online application on christmas eve
On the 27th - day after boxing day, i registered my biometrics at the post office, posted off my supporting documents and also received an email from HO confirming receipt of application.

Although it is not specifically requested in the online application, it is requested on the AN guide which the online application still refers you to. i would say still attach it to your supporting documentation and just highlight that you used it in your application for settlement.

let us know how yours goes. :)

Hi everyone,

Just to give my experience so far. I had my apointment yesterday. They were running a bit behind schedule, so I had to wait 2h. It only took 20min for me. I had scanned everything and already uploaded it, so they only had to take my biometrics (picture, finger prints) and verify my details. They didn’t keep the passport (it was not clear from everything I had read). I guess now it is up to the Home Office.

I think it makes sense for everyone using this Online application to scan their documents and upload them before the apointment.The guy before me was there for 1.5h ecause he had 100 documents to scan.

Can members please NOT post 'new system experience' posts in this topic and keep it ONLY for online application form queries. There are already existing running topics for all experience posts, please post there.

thanks

Hi All,

We are about to make an application shortly, and have the following queries in relation the new online app form.

(1) When will we be able to 'register' for booking online appointments in the website -https://www.ukvcas.co.uk

There is only login option, but no such option to 'register'. Will an account be automatically created after submitting our online application form? What login shall we use? is it the same login as used for naturalisation app form?

(2) Reading from other posts/forums, it appears that the experience with the new system is not very great. Is this the only way of applying now?

(3) Does anyone have any info on the timelines with this new app form?

(4) How to apply for passport simultaneously with this new form? What's the quickest way to get it using this process?

Thank you

You will be invited to register at the end of the application process only and if you've chosen the "new system", you can still (in some instances and for a while) use the old process, too. But that's going to phase out soon.

You might still have the option to choose the old process, but won't know until you reach the final application step.

I wouldn't think so, since it's only just been introduced in November and is being launched gradually.

You can't. Apparently, you'll have to wait until you are accepted... possibly even until you've had your ceremony until you can apply for a passport.

Thank you very much. I just can't understand why the HO increases fees, but removes the existing services?

It just so seems like the rail fares these days. Pay more & more to get less & less service...

Hi arovbukay,

I went to the one in the Barbican Library in London. No confirmation that my application was submitted or any indication of timeframes. They just showed me the screen when they pressed the submit button. For timeframes I think it would be impossible for them to know. It is up to Home Office.

The "new system" is only for the submission of applications - UKVI are still responsible for processing and deciding applications.Nothing has changed there.
