I am currently on a 5 years route spouse visa.
My spouse visa will expire on the 17th of feb 2018 and i just realised that by that time i wont be able to complete the 5 years required to apply for ILR.
The reasons being, i applied to renew my visa a bit early than expected during the first 2 years and half . Basically i renewed my visa 2 weeks before it expired and leave me with a total of 4 years and 11 months instead of 5 years.
Can I apply for ILR before my current visa expires or should I apply to extend it and complete the 5 years and then apply for ILR?
Please I need your advices.
Thank in advance.

You can apply for ILR within 28 days BEFORE you reach 5 years residence, calculated from the date of ENTRY to the UK on the spouse visa.

Thank for your prompt reply.
I think I was misunderstood, my point is even if I apply 28 days before I still haven’t completed the total of 5 years . Basically by the 17th of Feb when my visa expires I have completed only 4 years 11 months not 5 years.
So do I need to apply for another visa for only one month and complete the 5 years and then apply for ILR just after that or I can still apply for ILR on by the 17th of Feb even though I haven’t completed the 5 years?
I hope it is clear now.
Thank so much for assisting me here.

When did you enter the UK? And when was your visa granted?

No misunderstanding. You don't have to wait till you have exactly 5 years residence to apply. I have based my advice on the very limited information you have provided.

Unless you provide more information, it is impossible for a group of strangers on the internet to offer useful advice. Two other users have asked you the same question twice now.

I was granted my spouse visa on the 06 of March 2013
This first visa was due to expire on the 06-09-2015 but I applied a bit earlier and I got it on 20-07-2015, the layer will expire on 17-02-2018.
Can I apply for ILR on the 5 years route basis as spouse of a British citizen?

Do you even read the question? Provide the date you entered in the UK on spouse visa?

I first entered the uk on student visa on 18th of October 2006
I went back home after my visa was refuse in 2010 and came back in August the same year 2010 on student visa.
I got married on 23rd of September 2012.
Got a spouse visa 6th March 2013 - 5 years route.
Spouse visa was renewed on the 20/07/15
My current visa expires on 17/02/2018
Can I apply for ILR even though I won’t be able to complete the 5 years or 60 months by the 17/02/2018 ?
Thank a lot for your help

You complete 5 years on 6th March 2018. You can apply within 28 days of this date.
Based on above you can apply on/after Tuesday, 6 February 2018
