How soon after marriage can you apply for spousal visa?

Post by songn22a » Thu Nov 30, 2017 12:50 pm

Hi all,

My fiance and I have been together for a little over a year, and we met the second week I was in the UK on my Tier 4 visa... On our one year anniversary we decided that wanted to get married! We're getting married in NYC city hall on 28 December. Ideally, I would like to apply for my spousal visa in the first week of January as we have already started preparing all the necessary documents and am aware that all have to be dated within 28 days of application (bank statements, utilities, pay slips etc). Does it matter if those documents were dated from before our actual wedding?

I'm just wondering if they'll refuse the visa because the documents were dated 2 weeks before our wedding?

Thanks for you help!

Apply when you are ready.

No issue regarding documents. The rules do not state they must be dated AFTER marriage.

Spousal Visa - Original Bank Statements

Post by songn22a » Wed Dec 20, 2017 5:12 pm

Hello,

I've looked through the forum to see if this topic had been posted before but had no luck so I apologise if this causes any inconvenience!

I'm applying for a spousal visa from the US and all we have left is to obtain original bank statements. My husband banks with HSBC and as I've seen elsewhere, they are very strict with not certifying/ 'no stamping' on bank statements now. Instead HSBC said they would send the 6 months of bank statements to our address and that this should suffice for a visa application. I know it helps to have a letter from the bank stating they are originals, but they weren't very helpful with that either. I'm skeptical about sending just these statements in, does anyone have similar experiences or advice on how to proceed?

Thanks and I appreciate any info!
