Work Permit Visa related questions

Hi all,
I have joined the forum today. I have a WP visa valid for 2 years. Is there any way to convert this visa to a visa which is not dependant on the company sponsoring it similar to UK Tier1 Visa.

Apologies for starting the thread. if there are any old threads which explain about the different visas in Ireland , pls share the links.

My understanding is that you can only work for the employer sponsoring your visa.

For info, there is no longer a 'no ties to specific employer' visa in the UK. Tier 1 General visa route was closed a couple of years ago.
