Marriage to UK Citizen whilst in UK on Tier 4 Student Visa

Post by jtudor » Sun Jan 07, 2018 5:10 pm

Hi,

I have read in various places that this is possible but cannot find evidence for it on the UK Gov website anywhere.

Does anyone know anywhere official where it says this is possible?

Thanks.

You can marry, but only at a Home Office designated Registry Office. When you register your intent to marry, the Registrar is legally bound to notify the HO who can then extend the notification period from 28 to 70 days in order to interview you both separately before the wedding can go ahead, should they choose to do so.

When does your Tier 4 visa expire?

If you intend to switch to a spouse visa after the wedding, does your fiance earn a minimum of £18,600 p.a?

Thanks for the info and confirming my understanding.

Visa expires Jan 2019 so plenty of time and the financial requirement is OK.

I was hoping to see some written evidence of the ability to marry on Tier 4 Visa on UK Gov website/documents - does this exist anywhere that you are aware of?

Thanks.

There is no 'guidance'. You can marry in the UK as long as you are not in the UK as a visitor on a 6 month visa.

Please continue in your original thread, where it has already been ascertained that your partner doesn't have SET(O), she is on limited leave to remain under human rights 10 year route.
