Do I qualify for citizenship?

Post by Nadialynn10 » Mon Jan 08, 2018 11:43 am

I'll cut to the chase.

I was born in the US in 1991 to a married British father and American mother and still live in the US.

I don't want to give up my American citizenship and heard about someone just "claiming" their British citizenship and would like to do the same.

So far my research is pointing me to filling out the UKF form but I'm not sure I qualify because my parents were married. I've also seen posts where they say to just apply for a passport, but then I know you have to be a citizen to get the passport.

Any advice?

If you parents were married, you are automatically British by Descent. Apply for a British passport directly.
