Spanish Residency and how its achieved

Post by FXR_1340 » Sun Jan 14, 2018 12:07 pm

My new wife and I recently married however we secured a Marriage Visa rather than a Fiance Visa and my wife is now required to leave UK and return to USA to submit a VAF4a request to stay in UK.

Given the mess UK Immigration is in and the possibility (however small) of us not getting her visa, we are now exploring options.

My wife is a Naturalized US Citizen born in Panama to Panamanian parents.

What Residency & Work visa options are open to us should we find we cannot live as husband and wife in UK?

Grateful for any guidance

Your wife can enter the schengen area visa free with her US passport.

The procedure for the eu citizen for a stay longer 3 month in Spain:
https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/r ... dex_en.htm

For the non EU family member:
https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/r ... dex_en.htm

Thank you for your response and the links. I will take time to read.

Are you familiar with the Spanish Civil Code and its dealings with Ibero-American immigration? I will have a look at your links and see if it is mentioned.

Thanks again for your reply.

What is your citizenship?
If you are not a eu citizen it is not so easy.

I am a UK Citizen since birth. My new wife is a Naturalized US Citizen born in Panama.

Hope this helps.

Interesting you say if not EU Citizen its not so easy. My understading is those born in former Spanish colonies eg Panama have a better chance of entry.

The problem is we need simple language to understand the ins and outs of this.

Thanks for your response and grateful for any more help offered.

As long as the UK is member of the EU exercising your treaty rights is the easiest way.

Your wife is the family member of a eu citizen and get all benefits if she accompany or join you.
