Notified HO about separation

Post by kindhitman » Sun Jan 14, 2018 9:32 pm

Hi I am under a bit of a dilemma here which is causing me a lot of stress and I would truly appreciate if someone could help.

I am going through separation with my wife, I am a British citizen and my wife is from India. We haven't been staying together for more than a year. She is due for her ILR in May 2018 . We had filed for a mutual divorce in India where we got married and were supposed to get divorced in Aug 17, which was further pushed out to Jan 2018 upon her request and now she doesnt want to give divorce until she gets her ILR.

She works for a highly reputed Tax firms in the UK and can easily be sponsored by her employers however she doesnt want it as her clock for ILR will reset to another 5 years.

I have been trying to make our relationship work and made many efforts to reconcile however she isnt interested. She lied to me about couple of things and wanted to get back with me in end of last year but mainly for her VISA. I have given up trying on her and have recently notified HO that we do not live together, mainly to safeguard my rights and also because I felt used and cheated.

I have notified this to her as well and clearly she is not very happy. She is threatening me to not give divorce or fight over properties that I own or even harm herself. I am not sure what I could do.
Can I contact HO and advice that we are working on reconciling? I have contacted couple of lawyers but I dont want to make this too messy and stressful for both as already both of us have been going through a lot of separation stress.

Please assist

Just take it easy as she can't give you harm because you are the sponsor and without even your passport her indefinite won't succeed. Disloyal partner must be reported to HO if all informal efforts fail.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

She called me again this morning and asked me to support her for her ILR and said to me that since I have already written to HO, I should send another letter to them saying we are now trying to reconcile etc.
I said no to her as 1) Its not the right thing to do 2) I dont want to jeopardise my ability to sponsor any visa in future.

She started abusing me and texted me advising that she might end her life. I called up the police to check on her safety. Now she is upset even more and I am not sure what steps she me take against me. I am going to speak to a lawyer about this, but just wanted to take any suggestion from this forum to see what other things I need to worry about and stay away from false allegations.

Please help!
