Question?

Post by Jess7898 » Tue Jan 16, 2018 9:21 am

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me, I have no idea how to use this so bear with me.

I’m an British citizen I was born in the uk and have lived here all of my life, I have a girlfriend that lives in the US, she was born there and has lived there all her life too.

We have been seeing eachother for a year and a half and she’s visited the uk to see me.
I haven’t gone over to the USA for reasons that I do not fly well at all.

However, she’s finishing school in a couple of months and wants to make the jump of moving to the uk to be with me in June this year.

Keep in mind I’m 19 she’s 18 and we have no idea how visas work so my mum has pretty much been on the job for us both.

Situation in USA:
She lives with her dad who is back and forth from the USA to Mexico as his wife and him go over to Mexico for most of the year leaving her at home with her brothers (older than her)

We looked at a work visa but I don’t think she will qualify as she has had no skilled job before, she has worked in catering and a cinema as part time whilst in school to give rent to her father.

Student visa she would be happy to come here and go to uni and study a Buisness degree however I again don’t know much about them.

My parents have told me marrying her would make things easier but after watching videos on info about spousal visas it sounds even more difficult and even though we are happy to marry I feel like we are to young.

She has no British relatives.
We are just really stuck and don’t know what to do so if someone could clear this up or even shed some light it would be a massive help!!

Who knew it was so difficult to be with someone you love!

For a student visa, she needs to be accepted by an HO approved university/college and she will have to pay international student fees (usually upfront) and provide evidence of sufficient maintenance funds.

For a spouse visa (if you marry), you have to prove that you meet the financial requirement of £18,600pa, submitting evidence of payslips and bank statements for at least 6 months. You also have to prove you can adequately accommodate your spouse.
