applying through Residency...

Post by ukinmyheart » Tue Jan 16, 2018 2:17 pm

Dear all,

Thank you very much for your time! I have a doubt and I hope you can help me.

I am a EU citizen with a PR card and married to a British Citizen (less than a year). My doubt is: Can I apply for Naturalization based in residency (Almost 8 years) even though I am married to a British?

Again, Thank you very much
Kind Regards

If you held your PR document for a year, i.e. 5+1 year you can go straight to the AN application. Alternatively, you could apply as the spouse of a BC, as you are married at the time of your application.
Check out the form and guidance booklets:

I think you have to be married for at least 3 years to BC in order to go under 6.2 route, which would waive the 1 year permanent residence requirement :?:

Maybe more experienced members should comment.

However, if you have EEA(PR) with the start of the qualifying period 8 years ago, you should already hold PR for 1 year and apply under category 6.1 of the rules (5+1 route)

Nonsense!!! You need to be married to a BC at the time of application, that includes if your spouse got BC the day before when they attended the ceremony.
