British Citizenship-English Language

Post by mkpablo » Fri Jan 19, 2018 10:57 am

I had Esol Level 3 exam in Jun 2014 and Life in UK test for British Citizenship in the same time, but I have o apply for Permanent Residence Card and wait one year to apply again. Now the Esol level 3 It's not longer on their list. Should I need to take another exam? in 2014 the Esol qualification was on the list. They also got a remark on the gov page saying that if you’re applying for citizenship and your test was accepted when you settled in the UK you can use it. Is that so? Got confused. Can I apply for naturalisation with that certificate?

ESOL has not been accepted since November 2015.

You will need to do another test from an HO approved test provider.

If you applied for a Permanent Residence card (which is under the EU/EEA route), then you would not have needed English and LIUK.

Are you an EU citizen?

Yes, I am EU citizen and I did both exams Life in UK and Esol level 3 in 2014 but unfortunately I find out that I have to apply for permanent resident card, which I did and wait one year to apply again, in meantime they stopped to accepting Esol level 3 qualifications. My question is did they accepting English qualification from previous years (in 2014 Esol was on the list) and they want only the new exams to be done in new centres or my qualification is no longer valid and I have to do it again. In AN form point 1.22 one of the option to choose is: I met the knowledge of language and life requirements to qualify for settlement on or after 28th October 2013

Your ESOL qualification is no longer valid for citizenship. You will need to do a new test.

This DOES NOT apply to you as for PR your were NOT required to prove English and LIUK. The above is only applicable to applications for ILR under the UK immigration rules and not the EU route rules.
