child born after ILR

Post by habarwaaa » Sat Jan 20, 2018 3:05 am

I had 5 years leave to remain as a refugee and now obtained ILR. But my son was born 3 days after ILR issued to me.

What form do i need to complete for my son to get status in line with that of mine?

If he was born in the UK, then he is automatically British. Your son's status in the UK is better than yours!

However, if your ILR documents become unavailable or lost, etc., in the future, then he may become a Surprised Brit. Therefore, recommend applying for a Confirmation of British Nationality Status letter for him to get the decision documented on Home Office records.

Better to for him to apply for a British passport.
