Change job in Tier 2 visa

Post by alex132 » Sun Jan 21, 2018 11:14 am

Let say I am having Tier 2 working visa valid for 2 years under company A sponsor me.
During my this 2 years, can I find another job and change my job?

If I successfully manage to change my job, do I need inform Home Office that I change job? or I need to re-apply again my Tier 2 working visa (Even thought is not yet expired?)

|The purpose is holding a Tier 2 working visa is easier to get job.

Yes, if you find a new HO approved sponsor and meet all the requirements.

You have to apply for a new visa. You cannot work for your 'new employer/sponsor' until you have a new Tier 2 visa. A tier 2 visa only allows you to work for your sponsoring company. You cannot move around changing jobs without applying for a new visa. Everytime you want to change jobs, you need to apply for a new visa.

Tier 2 General is not necessarily easier. It is not the old Tier 1 General visa that was NOT tied to an employer. Tier 2 is tied to your sponsor completely.

Thank you very much for your reply. I appreciate it.

Let say my Tier 2 visa with company A have not expired, and I get a new job with Company B. So I need to apply a new TIer 2 visa (company B) with new term.
1. Thus, I need to pay again the visa fees and healthcare surcharge fees?
2. Will the number of years (I need 5 years) only can apply for ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain) will be effected?

If need a new Tier 2 visa, is generally will be same, just able to stay in UK while looking for another job. The opportunity just that able to stay in UK only.

You are misunderstanding the rules around Tier 2 completely. There are very specific requirements that must be met for you and your sponsor and specific levels of income required for both Tier 2 and ILR.
You seem to only want a visa to stay in the UK to reach 10 years long residence.

My purpose is to get ILR. As I know after 5 years of Tier 2 visa, can apply for ILR.

Does the rule change now to get ILR after 5 years of Tier 2 visa?

No there is no change, but there are requirements that you have to meet, absence limits, salary, genuine job etc.

It is not a visa that allows you to do as you wish just to get 5 years residence for ILR. Both you and your sponsor have requirements that must be met.

ILR fees change every year, they go up in April. Current fee is £2,297 each for a postal application. For in person same day it is an extra £590 each on top of the £2,297 fee.

The rules above in the links are as they are now, they do change.

Thank you for your reply.

Can I ask, going US get residence there is faster than UK here.
UK here need 5 years of Tier 2 visa only can apply for ILR and cost around £2500 per person.

Any place to read about going US get residence there?

You required a sponsoring employer for the US as well as far as I understand.

Post US questions in the sub forum link below as it is not relevant to Tier 2 or UK immigration questions.
