Russian Wife / UK Husband / Spouse Visa DOCS

Post by stuartw » Tue Jan 09, 2018 3:48 pm

Hi all,

I have a question regarding the documents needed for the Family Visa application, specifically which documents will need to be apostilled and which documents will need to be translated, and if so, whether any translations will need to be officially stamped to prove validity of translation.

APPLICATION DETAILS

Sponsor (Spouse) - MALE // UK SINCE BIRTH

Applicant - FEMALE // RUSSIAN
Born in Uzbekistan
Certificate of divorce from previous marriage - issued in Uzbekistan

Applicant has two children, both are Russian, but one was born in Uzbekistan and the other in Kazakstan

Therefore, for the applicant and her two children, all their documents are NOT in English.

Can anybody shed light on which documents will need to be translated, legalised, apostilled, etc as it seems the more I read, the more confused I get.

Thanks everybody for your input!

All documents that are not in English must be officially translated.

They need to be officially translated. Does it say in the guidance they need to be apostilled?

I've not personally seen anything specific about apostille requirements (other than the Divorce and Marriage certificates), I just thought it worth checking to see if anybody had any experience with children's birth certificates. Many thanks.

The requirements is to provide a translation for any document not in English and it must be either from a government department who issued the certificates or an official translator.
9. Information you must provide
You’ll need to have information and some evidence ready when you make your application. Include information for you and any dependants applying at the same time.

You’ll need to:

........
provide a translation of any document that isn’t in English or Welsh

UK MALE // RUSSIAN WIFE // FAMILY VISA

Post by stuartw » Sun Jan 21, 2018 6:15 pm

Hiya, I am hoping somebody could help clarify the correct procedure for submitting documents for the Family Visa as currently we are both a little confused and struggling to find definitive answers.

To help matters, here's the process we shall be undertaking....

We will be marrying in Georgia in February and at this point my wife will hand me over ALL her documents (and copies).

After the marriage I shall return to the UK and she will return to Russia.

This means that once I return to the UK I shall have almost everything ready to post to Sheffield.

Upon my wife's return to Russia, she will travel to Ekaterinburg, Russia where she will get her TB test done and then go for biometrics (both in the same city, same day).... so my questions are as follows:

1 - what documents will my wife need in Ekaterinburg to 'officially' apply? Will she need a copy of EVERYTHING that was put into the bundle given to me or is her passport enough?

2 - Will she need the online application form printed and signed out? or am I right to assume this is purely an online form and therefore no printing is required?

3 - if she DOES need to take anything to Ekaterinburg, will she then need to courier them to me in the UK so I can add them to the package to be sent to Sheffield? (such as the TB test paper, biometrics, etc)

Many many thanks for any help you're able o offer us, it's all greatly appreciated.
