what does the below mean (sorry if it sounds trivial)

"How long you can stay
You can apply to extend your visa for up to another 5 years, as long as your total stay is not more than 6 years."

does this mean, initial 5 years and then extn 6 years
or intial 5 years + 1 year making total 6?

Thank you CR001 for reply. So after my 5 years of my Tier 2 VISA (which will be freshly stamped now) I have 1 year of extn left?

In between, I can apply for ILR - when I am about to complete my 5 years right, please confirm?
