About bringing my son to the united kingdom

Post by Dunstan » Tue Jan 30, 2018 6:44 pm

Hi
I am British by naturalisation. I got my UK passport back in 2007. I just recently (2017)had a child with a lady back in Sierra Leone west Africa where I was born. My questions are?
Does that child immediately qualify for a British passport?
If not how can that child be qualified for a British passport or naturalisation or a visa to come and live with me in the united kingdom.
And also what are the requirements and application procedure.
Thanks so much in advance.

Yes, assuming you can prove paternity with DNA test from an approved centre as this will likely be asked for it you are not married to the mother.
And also what are the requirements and application procedure.

What about the mother?? Are you going to take the small child away from her?

I am married to the mother and would be making her visa application around the time she's about to give birth. I'm still working towards that..I was just concerned about the unborn child immigration status.

You stated child was born in 2017??

If you are married, it should be fine.

Passports from overseas can sometimes take 6 to 12 months.

You might want to consider applying for a Sierra Leone passport for the child and getting a Certificate of Entitlement to Right of Abode and then once in the UK, apply for the childs' passport using 1 week fast track.
