marriage visa - bank statements showing gambling and payday loans

Hi guys.

I am pretty stupid as I gamble and and have taken payday loans frequently though am not in a terrible mess financially as I live at home.

I earn way over the financial requirements however only for the last year or so.

Why do I need to show bank statements? I already have payslips and my spouse would have no recourse to public funds as far as I am aware.

Are the bank statements showing payday loans and gambling likely to cause me bother and do I have to only provide 6 months worth?

Also I have heard people having applications rejected as they only provided one years p60. By the time I apply I will have one years showing about 28000 however the previous year will only show about 15000, will this cause any problems?

Any help would hugely benefit me and I would really appreciate it.
(PS gambling and payday loans is stupid I know, not necessary to point it out. I cant do much about it now)

Bank statements are mandatory and if not submitted, the visa will be refused. HO want to see evidence of your salary being paid as payslips are easy to forge/manufacture. HO also want to see that what is stated on the payslips is in fact what you are being paid.

HO are only interested in your income. They are not interested in your outgoings.

P60 are not mandatory as far as I am aware.

As im a civil servant Id like to assume that they would be able to cross check internally.. though.. as im a civil servant I guess I should know that nothing is ever that simple so I will def submit my bank statements.

Do you think they would care if I ask my bank to filter my statements to deposits only?

Never assume when it comes to HO. It is the applicants responsibility to provide the evidence, not HO's responsibility to run around and check things if you have not provided the evidence.

Do not do that. A member posted late last year about receiving a refusal for redacting information. Bank statements must be original, unedited and in the format you receive them.

I am sure they have no interest in how you conduct your lives.

They are not doing any moral test on you.

It would have been open to you to provide a Statement from back showing the salary received, but you cannot redact anything or tamper with the original documents.
