Complicated situation, refugee spouse visa

Post by Debbie22999 » Mon Feb 05, 2018 8:26 pm

Hello

I am a British citizen. My husband is Syrian and currently in Holland, he has a 5 year residence permit there as a refugee. He’s been there about 2 years so far. We have known each other for 10 years, been in a relationship for 3 years and got married 6 months ago.

That’s the short story!

We meet all the requirements of the spouse visa. I just want to know if his refugee status will have an impact on getting a spouse visa to join me in the uk?

Any information or advice would be welcome.

Thanks in anticipation.

I don't think that his Dutch refugee status will cause any negative impact on uk spouse visa application as long as he gives true information.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Thank you for your reply.

He has a refugee travel document, which I believe is an acceptable document to travel to uk with (with a visa). But it expires in 18 months, so if he did get the spouse visa now, when it’s time to reapply in 2.5 years where would he put the new visa?

I’m so confused
