Spouse BRP due to expire 28/03/18

Post by Hashim198908 » Thu Feb 08, 2018 4:02 pm

Hi, I am looking for some advice.

My wife and I are due to travel abroad on 14th March 2018 for a family wedding and have just noticed that her Biometric Residence Permit expires on 28th March 2018.

I am guessing that she will have to arrange for this to be renewed before we travel ?

She was granted FLR back in September 2015 for 10 years.

Any help on this would be much appreciated because of the timescales ?

Presumably it is FLR(FP) if she is on the 10 year partner route.

You will have to apply before travelling, in person (extra £590), in order to get her new BRP in time.

Thats correct - it is the FLR FP 10 year partner route.

So I am guessing we will have to pay the visa fee, plus the immigration health surcharge plus the additional charge for the premium service centre ?

Do you have to apply within 28 days of expiry or can we apply sooner ?

Correct and you can apply sooner but it might create a shortfall for ILR. This also assumes you will get an appointment. March is the busiest month due to a rush of bookings to avoid the fee increases in April.

How long does in normally take to receive the permit if your visa is approved at the premium service centre ?

I dont wish to create problems in the future for ILR, so I am guessing I should be looking for an appointment around the 1st or 2nd of March ?

Anything between 5 and 10 days, sometimes longer, sometimes quicker.

You risk not having the BRP card. You should also be aware that in person appointments does not guarantee a decision on the day.
