British Citizenship - New Online Application

Post by Ind_e » Sat Feb 10, 2018 10:57 pm

Hi, i am currently working my way through the online application and was wonder if anyone could shed some light. Long story short i have been living in England since 1994, i have 5 GCSE's inc English and i have Diploma in Design. Even though i have been in England for the past 24 years i had to carry out Life in the UK Test in 2013 which i passed on the 02.10.13 however there is one question on the application which has lost me....

Have you met the requirement to qualify for settlement on or after 28th October 2013? (Required)
Applicants who applied for, and obtained, settlement on or after the 28th October 2013 using an English language qualification at level B1 or above can use this as evidence of their knowledge of English language. However if this qualification was not used and accepted for their settlement application, it cannot be used for this application.

As i passed the life in the uk test 26 days prior to this i should put no?

And then it asks if i have a degree which again i dont. I dont want HO to think i cant speak English as there is no option to add my qualifications.

Help!!! i dont want to give them any reasons to refuse me :'(

The letter you print is NOT for a new 'brp card'. It is to enroll your biometric information at the Post Office. All applicants have to enroll biometrics.

You need Life in the UK in addition to the English B1 test. The test MUST be from an HO approved test centre.

What date did you get ILR??

I got my ILR on 20.02.2014. I was given leave to remain in Feb 2013 as ILR was refused as i hadn't taken my life in the uk test - at this point i had no ID to take the test and had to submit my application regardless.

What route to ILR did you take, what is your full UK immigration history?

For ILR in 2014, you would have needed English B1 in addition to LIUK.

I am stateless, I applied under the 10 year rule.

I came to the England when I was 4 years ago with my aunt. Unfortunately my aunt passed away and I didn't have any documentations/passport/id etc. When I had continuous 10year evidence of living in in the UK I applied for ILR which was rejected because I hadn't taken the life in the UK test. I was given a BRP which gave me leave for 2years in which I had to take my test and reapply. I didn't have to taken any other tests just life in the uk.

You need to have the last 10 years of legal stay to qualify for citizenship under the good character requirement.

You risk being refused citizenship until this time. What date was the 2 year visa issued after the ILR refusal?

For some inexplicable reasons, none of the following are acceptable as satisfying the English B1 requirement:
GCSEs.
Life in the UK test.
Diplomas below graduate levels.

You will likely only qualify for citizenship in 2023, 10 years after your stay in the UK was legalised.

Can you say more about your Immigration history since you first came?

Visitor visa initially maybe but not sure why OP has no passport or claims he is stateless.
