If your wife gets passport before you get ILR then you will not need to wait for one year otherwise you'll have to wait for a year.

Why do you say the OP must wait till September 2018 to apply?

If your wife is British, you can apply now if you meet all the requirements of 3 years spouse of BC application.

Correct me if I am wrong. if your spouse get passport before you get ILR then only you don't have to wait for 1 year otherwise you have to wait for one year even if spouse get passport after your ILR !!
Update:
I think I had misunderstood the requirement. It look like if spuose is british and you have ILR now you can apply for naturalization

Yes, the requirement is to be married to a BC to avoid the 12 months. This includes if your spouse attended their ceremony and became British the day after you get ILR. There is no requirement in the citizenship rules that your spouse must have been BC before or after ILR or that you must have been married to a BC for the full 3 years to qualify for the exemption.

The link already provided :-
https://www.gov.uk/becoming-a-british-c ... sh-citizen
-: do not ignore the requirements detailed towards the bottom of that webpage.
It is absolutely not as simple as just being in the UK for at least three years.
