UK Passport Application, Previous (foreign) Passport Confusion

Post by detectableink » Thu Feb 15, 2018 4:20 pm

Hi there I am new to this forum so I am sorry in advance if this is in the wrong place.

We recently did the naturalization and passport application at the NCS Provided by our council, the naturalization AN1 form went through OK and we await my wife's ceremony. Her passport application went wrong as we filled the form out incorrectly, the lady didn't give us time to fill out another form so we have to apply for my wife's British passport seperately..

There is some confusion as regards to the section at the top on the second page of the passport application form. It asks about previous passports. "HAS THE APPLICATION BEEN ON ANY PASSPORT". Does this mean UK passports or any foreign passports also? My wife has 3 Philippine passports in total. Do I need to include the details of these in the passport application? IE there are 3 columns that can fit the 3 individual passport numbers perfectly...

The reason why I ask this is the entire passport application form is seemingly worded assuming that you was born as a British citizen or from British ancestry. We are desperate to have a break and go on Holiday as we have not had any time or holiday since being married 5 years ago, we still live at home with my parents also and are itching to finally be released from this slavery.

Many thanks
(UK National Married to Philippine National, just finished ILR now straight onto naturalization)

It means ANY passport, so in her case her foreign passport.

thank you so much for your quick reply

* Also do we need to have yet another interview when applying for a passport or is this the old method of doing it? I am hoping that we can just use the check and send service offered by the post office?

Many have reported that they are not doing interviews and if you are called for one, it will be purely for identity check purposes.

Thanks again that's really useful

the very very last question i forgot to put in my last post (which I may need to post elsewhere)

Do they take and keep your current and old foreign passports once you have naturalization / apply for a UK passport? the reason why I ask is my wife wants to be a dual national and I think we need these passports for her to retain / reacquire Philippine nationality.

deeply appreciate your time...

:D

The foreign passports are not 'retained/cancelled' by the UK Home Office or passport office as they do not have the authority to do so. Foreign passports belong to the government of the relevant country.

First Passport as a naturalized UK citizen

Post by detectableink » Fri Feb 16, 2018 10:28 am

Hi All

Short and sweet.

Can a newly naturalized citizen get their first adult passport through the Fast Track (1 week) service at London HM Passport Office. We wanted to get it as quickly as possible so we can go on holiday.

failing that can the normal "check and send service" at our local post office be used instead?

Many thanks in advance

No they cannot use the 1 week fast track service for a first adult passport application.

Yes, or post it yourself or apply online. You are still looking at a few weeks though.

Thanks, I knew that the same day premium service you couldn't do just wasn't sure about 1 week fast track.

Thanks again
