Child born in UK after I got ILR

Post by krisv » Wed Feb 21, 2018 11:36 am

Hi,

I got my ILR last year. My wife is still on a PBS dependent visa.

We are expecting our first child imminently.

I know that the child would be British automatically.

How do we go about with getting the nationality of the child as British in the birth certificate?

Also, can we apply for the child's passport directly after receiving the birth certificate or do we need to register the child first.

You register the birth as usual at the council. Birth certs don't state nationality as far as I am aware, my family's ones don't.

Apply for British passport, submit evidence of your ILR and childs birth cert
