Change of work shift

Post by SSon » Sat Feb 24, 2018 10:39 am

Dear Gurus,

When I started my job I was working 9am - 6am. But because of specifics of our company it is required for almost all team members to periodically do night shift.

So my employer asked me to work 4am - 1am instead from now on.

So all in all I am doing exactly the same hours just different time.

Does my HR need to update Home Office about this or this is OK as my contract hours did not decrease and remained the same? Thanks.

Are you sure about your times of work???
working 9am - 6am.
So my employer asked me to work 4am - 1am instead from now on.

These would be a 21 hour shifts.

Sorry you're right - a typo.

I meant 4am - 1pm: 9 hours including 1 hour lunch.

The same 9 hours as current shift: 9am - 6pm including 1 hour lunch.

So in both cases the number of working hours are the same, just a different pattern.

I don't think you need to inform UKVI about change in shift as long as the contracted hours on which your current visa was granted remain the same.
I am not a lawyer and do not claim to be one. All my comments here are based on my opinions, experience and interpretation of the appropriate UKVI guidance documents and immigration rules.
