Spouse visa - disability

Post by 1ZH19 » Mon Feb 26, 2018 10:11 pm

Hi,

Am new to this forum and would be most grateful for some help and advice.

Am looking to apply for a spouse visa for my husband soon and have found this forum useful when browsing through it.

I have lived in the UK since birth and was born with a physical disability. I got married late 2015 and wasn’t ready to call my husband over as I wanted to complete my studies at university and didn’t want things to get in the way. Now that I’ve graduated I went to see him late last year and am in the process of collating all my documents together to apply for his visa.
As am not working and have a disability I understand am exempt from the financial rule of having to earn 18,600 I currently claim DLA and ESA are these benefits sufficient to cover me through the maintenance route and if so how long of a period will this Need to be covered for I.e 3-6 months?
I have kept in regular contact and will provide evidence for this.

Would someone be kind enough to point me in the right directions.

Many thanks

See guidance notes in link below.

Also, if you married in 2015, how often have you visited your husband and what evidence do you have of 'subsisting marriage/relationship'?

I have a confirmation letter from the Uni The period I was studying.

Airline tickets for my visit in 2016 and 2017.

Phone records, what’s app, viber message logs etc

I don’t pay rent as I live with my parents who own the house so don’t claim any housing benefits and only claim DLA and ESA.

Get your latest Benefit Award letter for ESA, PIP. If you have savings, bank statement to show savings. Have a look at Appendix 2 where it asks questions about maintenance, basically you will need to calculate how much you have left after expenditure.

Read through guides and posts on forum to find examples of how to prepare docs for adequate maintenance category.

Thanks for the help.

Do you any have any possible links to guides or posts on this forum where I can find some examples.

How many months of bank statements is it worth submitting?

If I happen to get a job in the meantime as am looking around do you think this will prolong or jeopardise the visa application in anyway.

Thanks in advance.

Just follow the rules from FM-SE as posted by CR001. Those are the criteria ECO follow when they assess your application, it is the best info. If after that you need further clarification post here.

All the best.
