Applying for Spouse Visa while abroad

Post by romrox » Thu Mar 08, 2018 3:38 pm

Hello everyone,
I am on UK Indefinite leave to remain (ILR), currently working in Abu dhabi for over 5 years on an international assignment, having visited the UK from time to time during my assignment. I married a Filipino about two years ago. We are planning to move to the UK when my assignment ends next year. I'm not sure what I need to do regarding getting a UK visa for my wife.
1. Should I get a spouse visa (what is its exact name) from here in UAE?
2. What are the process and the requirements?
3. When is the best time to apply for it and how long it will take in general?
4. Should we apply for it after we move to the UK? (If yes, which visa my wife should apply to go to the UK?)

I'm sorry for asking so many questions but I would appreciate your time and answers.

Cheers!

ILR is lost if you are absent (not settled) from the UK for two years or more.

When did you leave the UK on assignment?

When have you visited the UK and what was stamped in your passport??

Thank you for your prompt reply.
I have been visiting UK regularly, not to lose my ILR. In fact, I'm visiting the UK at the moment.
What do you mean by 'what was stamped in my passport'? There are different stamps?

What do the stamps say that you get on entry to the UK??

Short visits do not necessarily maintain ILR status.

Thank you again for your reply. The recent stamp says "immigration office, 4 digit number, the date of entry and Heathrow (4)" is there I need to look out for?
