Passport for newborn with one parent on ILR

Post by Jithu Babu » Tue Mar 13, 2018 12:06 pm

Hello

I got my ILR on Jan 20, 2018 and my baby was born on Feb 05 2018. So my understanding is that my baby is already a British citizen by birth. If I'm right I believe I can directly apply for her passport.Am I correct?
Also what documents do I need to apply for the baby's British passport? As I still hold Indian passport, Is it necessary to send my passport or should I only send my ILR BRP card ?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Jithu

Thank you for your prompt reply.
But I'm still a bit confused about NCS and NDRS because on a quick scanning through to understand what they are, I understood that these are used to apply for a British citizenship. I thought the baby is already a British citizen and doesn't need to apply for it and can directly apply for a passport. Am I missing something or have I understood something wrong?

Sorry, my error.

You can apply for baby's passport using the 1 week fast track service. You need to send your passport and ILR BRP.
