Tier 4 Dependent(Child)

Post by mitoke » Fri Mar 16, 2018 4:34 am

Has anyone successfully been able to bring in a child dependent without the other parent due to compelling reasons.

Yes. There needs to be a very good argument why your child needs to come to the UK with you, rather than stay with their other parent. Plus, you need to show there would be proper care in place for the child.

So you were able to do this successfully? Do you mind sharing what evidence you provided regarding proper care?

That depends on what specific care arrangements you have planned and researched. I advise you focus more on what are the compelling circumstances of why the child needs to come to the UK. The international student adviser at your university can advise on whether you have a good case, and how to make it.

Thank you for your unhelpful and snarky response. I've already inquired with them and was wanting personal experiences.

You have misconstrued my answer. Many students who are preparing their visa application are unaware of the role or expertise of the university's dedicated immigration advice service, hence my referral to them as by far the best source of guidance. A professional who has advised people in a range of situations is always your most useful contact.

Moreover, this particular query is very much about how best to explain the very specific and individual circumstances of your family. Other applicants' experiences are not going to be very relevant, and treating them as a template could even derail your application

I have spoken to my university’s visa department and UKVI. I was just curious if others have had an exemption made and under what circumstances.
