Transit in EU to Uk on EEA fp

Post by Curiousa » Tue Mar 20, 2018 1:13 am

Hi there,
My husband will travel to join me in the UK with issued EEA family permit. Can he travel from Santo Domingo to Paris, continuing to UK on the same day by air? (transiting in Paris ORY airport)?
I'm thinking of meeting him in transit and fly together to the UK afterwards.
Many thanks.

France requires Dominican Republic citizen to hold a transit visa to transit through a French airport, I don’t know if this requirements is for family member of EU citizens, anyway only France and Belgium require that so he can transit without Schengen visa through Germany or Spain.

Thanks so much for the responce. This is really good to know and the link is very helpful.
He is actually Haitian (but similar applies).
He has a visa for US so thinking we'll book a flight PAP to LHR via US to be on the safe side.
Now another question arrises  Can he travel on one way ticket to Uk on EEA family permit or must hold a return ticket?
EEA fp is clasified as non-settlement visa although the holder can work and live in UK and after 6 months the visa is automatically extended as long as still in partnership/marriage.
So this is very confusing..can he travel on a one way ticket? Or must purchase a return (and not use the return flight)? I find it a waste of money.. thanks!

One way is fine.
EEA fp is clasified as non-settlement visa although the holder can work and live in UK and after 6 months the visa is automatically extended as long as still in partnership/marriage.
EEA route FPs and RCs are not visas as such. The rights of a spouse are derived under the EU regulations from the EU partner being present in the UK as a qualified person.
