Income rules - what counts as dependent children?

Hi there

I'm a BC and my kids also hold a British passport.
My wife is non-EU.
For the spouse visa, would we have to have:
1. A minimum income of 18600 (since it's only my wife who would need a visa)
OR
2. A higher income (to account for having 3 kids who are financially dependent on us)

In other words, what is the definition of 'dependent' child. Is it something like 'dependent on the family unit to survive in general' or is it only referring to kids who also actually require a visa?

(We're actually here already under Surinder Singh rules, but I'm just trying to see if we are covered if things change under Brexit)

The higher amount is only required when Non British children are also applying for a visa.
