ILR Process during the Notice period and resignation after ILR

Am presently on Tier 2 General Sponsorship. I complete my 5 yrs in November 2018.

Queries
1) My present employer is not doing well financially and may want to move me into a notice period (downsizing) around that time of my ILR interview, how does that work out. I also read that a key document required will be from my employer stating that am still required. Is there anyone who has experience on this and can advise.

2) I will be going for the same day service. Understand from one of the immigration lawyer that we can apply 28 days earlier, so around in October. Assuming that we get the clearance by the end of the interview date (mid October) and the biometrics cards in a few days. Is it ok to resign and go into the notice period in October 2018 itself, this will be 2-3 weeks before we complete 5 continuous years.

1. You need a letter from your current employer stating 'xy required for the foreseeable future and will be paid x salary for the foreseeable future'.

2. Once you have ILR you are free to work for anyone. I would be very cautious about resigning before you get ILR though.

Start searching for a new employer if you are confirm that they planning to downsize and you may be in the list. Better plan before it's too late.
You have be with a Tier2 sponsored employer to be eligible to apply for ILR.
