Landlord Letter for Spouse Visa

Post by yoursbyheart » Tue Mar 27, 2018 6:55 pm

Dear All

I hope this post finds you all well. I have a couple quick questions.
I am a British citizen and my wife is on spouse visa (first extension due in Jan 2019).

Please can someone advise if a letter from landlord/housemate is required at the time of application, we do have enough proofs of address but no tenancy agreement or letter from landlord.

Secondly is there a source where i can find documents/study material for A2 test which i believe my wife will have to take before applying.(she passed A1 from Pakistan before coming to UK)

Please advise.

Kind Regards,

Preferably try to get a joint tenancy agreement or letter from landlord for allowing your wife's stay there plus home inspection report (if it's shared accomodation).
You should contact the relevant English centre for getting study material.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Hi seagul / all

thanks for your reply and information.
the trouble is to get these things i will have to change the accommodation because our current housemate/landlord will not provide these or would not allow a house inspection report even though it is not a problem. Even recently he asked me to pay rent in cash rather than bank transfer and i am not sure how secure is that.

But anyway if a tenancy agreement is absolutely necessary then i will change and rent somewhere else otherwise i want to know if the address proofs(like bank statements, doctor letter, driving license etc.) are sufficient.

I will check with the English language test provider about material, do you know or can you name any?

Thanks,

Living/leaving a house is usually a personal choice but for immigration purpose for initial and subsequent applications the authorities always want to make sure that the applicant & it's family has sufficient uncrowded accomodation to live. Usually in my opinion once the partner gets it's visa and arrived uk then preferably no one shouldn't live in sharing if it's possible.
Try to speak with them gently & explain them the visa requirements as they might come across same situation. I hope it might work otherwise try to find other accommodation. I don't know why they asking rent in cash instead bank transfer but still I don't think it's a big matter because both ways are acceptable.

hi again

thanks so much for your kind reply and advise.
please excuse me for my poor understanding, but by following did you mean everyone should live in sharing?
"no one shouldn't live in sharing if it's possible"

Regarding paying rent in cash, i dont have any problem with it but tbh i wont have any proof(tenancy agreement etc.) that i actually am renting a room from them except our verbal agreement, not sure how safe that is but i am just worried or perhaps overthinking this but i am only trying to be cautious. when i was paying through bank transfer at least i had a proof that i am paying rent.

Kind Regards,
