Leaving employer after getting ILR from Tier-2 general route

Post by curiousme002 » Sun Apr 01, 2018 9:04 am

I am currently on tier-2 general visa and completing my continuous 5 years in first week of May. However, I am planning to apply for ILR in second week of April (within 28 days to complete 5 years).

I have job offer with me and like to resign from current employer on the same day of getting ILR approved (premium appointment). My question is; can I leave my current employer (who is CoS sponsorer) right after getting my ILR approved (may be even before receiving my PRB Card in the post)?? Although I will be serving notice period; is there possibility that my IRL can get canceled or curtailed?

This question arose in my mind because; one of the requirement in the set_o form states that employer should mention on the reference letter that you are 'still required for the employment in question for the foreseeable future"

Once you have ILR you are free to move to other jobs or not work at all. Most usually wait a couple of months or at least until they have their BRP card.

Hi CR001, Thanks for reply. Is waiting for couple of months or till getting PRB card, a legal requirement or just precautionary measure?
