* If you choose to marry in the UK she would have to first return to her home country and submit an application for a fiance visa. This would grant her leave of 6 months during which you would be required to marry and then switch to a 2.5 year FLR(M) Spouse visa.Bertie1969 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 05, 2018 5:25 pmHi Folks
I have done a bit of searching but i cant seem to find the info im looking for. I also called the immigration helpline but they want to charge a lot of money for the pleasure.
I just met a lovely Taiwan woman who is visiting the UK and living with her sister. Because she is from Taiwan she does not need a visa to visit for up to 6 months. I was born in the UK and i have lived here all my life.
If out relationship progresses, what is needed for her to live with me in the UK?
Does she need to go home and apply for the visa from her home country? YES.
How much will the visa cost and how long does it take to get approved? £1,523 + £600 NHS Surcharge. An average of 2-3 months. *
Am i right in thinking the only way for her to live here for good with me is by getting married? Yes unless she qualifies for one of the Points Based employment visa categories (skilled worker ect).
Many Thanks
Hi Casa many thanks for the very informative reply.Casa wrote: ↑Thu Apr 05, 2018 7:03 pm* If you choose to marry in the UK she would have to first return to her home country and submit an application for a fiance visa. This would involve two visa applications, and therefore two visa fees.
£1,523 + £1,033 + £500 NHS Surcharge = £3056
As the sponsor do you meet the financial requirement of £18,600 p.a or without earned income have £62,500 held in an accessible account for at least 6 nonths
She will require A1 level English from an approved Home Office test provider.Bertie1969 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 05, 2018 7:14 pmHi Casa many thanks for the very informative reply.Casa wrote: ↑Thu Apr 05, 2018 7:03 pm* If you choose to marry in the UK she would have to first return to her home country and submit an application for a fiance visa. How long roughly would it take to apply for the visa? Processing time as per my previous post.
Is it not possible to apply for a spouse visa and avoid one of the fees? Yes if you marry in Taiwan
Yes my earnings are over the £18600 and i have savings too but nowhere near £62500. You don't need both. You can qualify with your income alone.
I think the difficult part would be waiting a long time on her visa getting approved while she is in her home country. If you meet all the requirements the wait shouldn't be lengthy.
thanks again
Casa many thanks for your wonderful help once again.Casa wrote: ↑Thu Apr 05, 2018 8:10 pm
She will require A1 level English from an approved Home Office test provider.

The test could be taken while she is in the UK as a visitor if it is more convenient.

Many thanks for posting the links that is very helpful. The application page is in Taiwan so i will pass the link on to my girlfriend to read.
Am i right in thinking the application for a Fiance Visa can take up to 2 months? Should be decided within 12 weeks.
If she comes here on a Fiance Visa, if we got married within a couple of months. Could she then start to work or do we have to wait on the Spouse visa being approved before she can work? Work won't be permitted until the FLR(M) spouse visa is issued. Postal applications can take 8 weeks or more to decide, whereas if applying in person at a PSC for an additional fee of £610, the decision is generally decided on the same day.
