Children born in the UK who are 5 years old

Post by SaudLodhia » Tue Apr 10, 2018 11:20 am

Hi, my son was born in the U.K and is 5 years old now and I have heard that recently the law has passed if a child born in the U.K gets 5 years old then he is eligible to apply for the Permanent Residency. Is that true. I know there is something for the child who turns 7 years but not sure about 5 years. Please share your information here considering the fact I haven't got ILR yet.

No link to source the information. I tried to find this information but couldn't. Some person told me this. Parents will get ILR next year and the child is born here.

Once the parents have ILR, the child can be registered as British citizen on form MN1. If this is not an option due to your country of origin not allowing dual nationality, then apply for ILR for the child with parents.

There is no special automatic ILR for children simply due to living in the UK for 5 years.
