UK Fiance Visa Questions

Hi there,

I am a British citizen planning on marrying my fiance from the USA in Britain through the Fiance/Marriage visa later this year. (and then changing to FLM/Spouse visa) but I did have a couple of questions about the application process however that I wanted to clarify, and would be very grateful for advice.

Once my fiance has completed the online visa form/application and done biometrics, does she then send the application, her passport, and supporting documentation to Sheffield? If so, does she just need the one lot of original supporting docs? I have read about having barcode separators, but I am under the impression this doesn't apply for US applicants, as they aren't scanning anything? (and I assume this negates the need for 2 copies of the supporting docs?)

Please make sure you apply for the correct visa as if you apply for the wrong 'marriage' visa, you won't be able to apply within the UK for FLR(M) visa.

Fiance visa (settlement >> settlement >> marriage) - costs £1,523 (this is the one you need).

Marriage Visitor Visa (standard visa category for marriage only and then leave the UK) - costs £93 (cannot switch to FLR(M) on this one)

This is something to bear in mind, thank you. I wondered if you know how the supporting documents need to be prepared when applying from the US? Do we just have the one lot of evidence (originals) that gets posted off to Sheffield, or do we need a copy of the supporting evidence as well?
