Standard Visitor: Appointment Dates

Post by helpplease! » Sun Apr 15, 2018 11:55 am

Hi All,

My parents (in Turkey) have an active online application for a Standard Visitor Visa to visit me here in the UK. Their application hasn't been paid for yet and they haven't booked an appointment date, because I am currently awaiting to receive my bank statements and other documents to support their application and I still need to send it over to them by post.

I estimate another few weeks until all supporting documents will arrive in Turkey, so they are looking to book an appointment sometime in May at the Istanbul centre. They are looking to visit in June. However, I am concerned that all May appointments have already been taken, because on the book appointment screen on the Gov website, it only shows April availability from today to 30th April, you can click on each day and it gives you a list of times to book. It also gives an option to click onto the month of "May 2018" and it shows the dates in calendar format but all days are greyed out and you cannot click on them. There is no "June" option yet.

I wondered if anyone knows if this means the May appointment dates haven't been released yet or they have all been taken already?

Many thanks.

Standard Visitor: Bank Statements

Post by helpplease! » Sun Apr 15, 2018 12:32 pm

Hi All,

I am a Turkish National living in the UK as a Spouse to my British husband. My parents (retired living in Turkey), are due to apply for a standard visitor visa to visit us here in the UK. My sister (housewife) her husband (employed) and their daughter (10 years old) are also planning to apply.

Most documents are ready and we are planning to complete the online application in the coming week or two, however I am looking to clarify a few points before they book the appointment in Istanbul.

1.My husband (a business owner/Director) is sponsoring my families application, bearing responsibility for all financial requirements etc. He will therefore be providing his personal and business bank statements in support. Therefore, does my father (retired) or brother in law (employed) need to provide any of their Turkish bank statements, or is this not necessary?
2. Does my husband really need to provide his business bank statements too? if so, does my husband need to provide any other form of business document, i.e. companies house documents, etc, or would a letter from his accountant confirming employment/position/salary etc suffice?
3. As my husband is willing to sponsor all of my family, should they try to apply at the same time or would it be best to have my parents apply on one day and my sister, her husband and their daughter apply on another day?
4. As my husband is sponsor, does my brother in law need to provide any documents from his employer? If so they will be in Turkish. Do they need to be translated to English?
5. My niece is a 10 year old school student, would she be required to supply any documents from her school? If so they will be in Turkish. Do they need to be translated to English?

Many thanks.

Ok so after further research I found out that you must provide a certified translation of any documents that aren't in English.

So I guess my main question now is as my husband is sponsor of my entire family, would any of the applicants need to provide their bank statements or letter of employment, etc? And would it be better for my parents to apply on one day and my sister her husband and daughter apply on a different day?

I feel that my parents application is straightforward as they are both retired. I am just having difficulty with what documents needs to be provided for my sisters, brother in law and daughters application.

Please help. thanks.

Can anyone help please?

Do applicants need to provide their bank statements if their Sponsor is providing bank statements?

If they do need to provide bank statements, do they need to be translated into English?

Applicants for a standard visitor visa MUST provide evidence of their financial circumstances in their home country, regardless of who is sponsoring the visit.

Many thanks for your kind confirmation.

Do you know if the bank statements must be translated? I ask due to the volume of 6 months of statements would be rather costly to translate.
