I (American Citizen) am currently on a Tier 4 Visa that expires on July 12th 2018. I have been in the UK studying for my BA since January 2015. My Fiancé (British Citizen) and I are getting married in the beginning of April, we have been together since May 2015. We have a combined yearly income of over the required 18,500.
My first question is, will it be a problem that we do not have any bills that are in both our names to prove that we have been living together long term? We have only just officially started living together and have our lease in both our names. However through the years we have travelled to several different countries together, including a 2 week holiday to America for my fiancée to meet my family. We have flight and hotel confirmations in both our names, several pictures ect. to prove that we indeed have been in a relationship since May 2015.
You can apply as soon as you are married. Persumably you have given the required notice to an HO approved Registry office, who who will notifiy HO and the 28 days notice could be extended to 70 days for HO to possibly investigate/interview prior to given the OK for your to marry? My second question is how early can I apply for the spouse visa after we are married? Is the earliest I can apply 28 days before my current Tier 4 Visa expires? I read that that is the case for some visas, but was not clear on which visas it applies to. If I am able to apply before my current Tier 4 visa expired will this effect my student status in anyway and prevent me from completing my course and graduating in July?
You can apply in person for a same day decision at a premium service centre. Costs an extra £610 on top of the £1033 visa fee and £500 IHS. You get your visa BRP card within 10 days after your appointment. Is there any type of priority service for this visa?
Not required for a spouse visa. It is only required for Indefinite Leave to Remain. Also someone mentioned having to take a life in the UK test before I am able to apply for this visa? I haven't come across this anywhere? Is this something I would also need to do?
Don't forget that you will also have to pay the £500 NHS surcharge.marleyjgama wrote: ↑Mon Apr 16, 2018 5:37 pmHi,
I (American Citizen) am currently on a Tier 4 Visa hoping to switch to a spouse visa. I will be applying from inside the UK. My finance (UK citizen) and I are getting married on the 3rd of June, however we will be travelling abroad on the 18th of July. I've read that it can take up to 12 weeks to get a decision. Is there any type of priority service for this visa? In-person application at a PSC for an additional £610.

Thanks in advance.
Yes. If he cannot attend, he is required to write a letter supporting your application and stating why he is not able to attend.marleyjgama wrote: ↑Fri Apr 27, 2018 2:02 pmJust another quick question- I have now booked my in person appointment, does my husband need to be in attendance for the in person priority service appointment?
