Marriage Visit Visa

Hi,
I am a British citizen and want my wife (currently in Pakistan) to come visit me on a visitor's visa. Can I sponsor her to visit me on a visitor's visa given that I am a full-time carer of my father. If I cannot sponsor, can she apply for a visitor's visa on her own?

What ties to home country will she provide?

Why not apply for a spouse visa??
