British passport?

Post by DAC000 » Thu Apr 19, 2018 5:50 am

Guys

I took British citizenship in December 2015, many thanks to this site for helping.

Now I’d like to apply for a passport and was curious about your experiences i.e., online or paper with Royal Mail document checking?

Also timelines for each.

Many thanks for your help

Take care

Hi DAC000,

I am in similar situation of applying for BC. I read on this forum and decided to go for Online application and then use the COUNCIL NDRS service as well as JCAP service [in which they apply for the British passport at the same time as of your Naturalisation application]. Royal Mail don't provide this service, it is local councils who provide this service.

Online is quick as far as i know [timeline topics here give this impression as most people who applied online seems to get the decision in roughly 6 weeks time].

Online form is quite straight forward and you can print the bio-metric letter straight after paying the fee and enrol your bio-metrics the same day.

Thanks

Kindly reread what the OP has posted properly. They are already British and only asking about applying for a passport!!

I applied Dec 2016 online, with Special Delivery submission of documents, referee and signature page.
Added attraction these days is that the online application fee is £9.50 lower than postal. At the time it took 7 work days which included an identity interview at the Victoria office. I believe interviews are not done anymore.
Remember, you will have to submit your original naturalisation certificate and all uncancelled passports you have. Uncancelled includes expired ones which have not been invalidated by hole punching, cutting corner or similar.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
