Old IELTS for dependent

Post by irfanzafar » Fri Apr 20, 2018 12:20 am

Dear All,

Thanks for your help/advise/suggestions in advance.

I am on T-2 and will be applying for ILR early next year.
My wife came to UK in mid 2012 as my dependent. She passed her IELTS (General Training 6.5 band) from British Council in early 2012 (Valid for 2 years only) to meet language requirements for entry clearance.
Can she use same IELTS Certificate as proof of English Language for ILR?

Her test was conducted by British Council in Islamabad (Pakistan) and certificate was awarded by BC, IDP IELTS Australia & University of Cambridge ESOL Examination. Her test centre is still on the list of approved test centres.

Thanks again for your help.

Best regards.

although expired, her test result is still usable for ILR application as it used for entrance clearance and the test centre is still in the approved list. So this is alright.

ESOL is no longer accepted by HO since November 2015.

Also, a PBS Dependent was NOT required to meet the English requirement for Entry Clearance so even though one was submitted, it would have been ignored as it was not a requirement.

She should do a new test, level B1.

Thanks for you reply.

It was not an ESOL qualification. It was an IELTS (General Training) test and was stamped by provider British Council.

She did not have to meet the English requirement for a PBS dependent visa do it has not previously been used.

To use an expired test, it must be from a provider on the current list AND been used for a previous visa application (not applicable to her as PBS dependent).

£150 for a B1 test or risk losing £3000 if HO don't accept it.
