Spouse Visa renewal advice

Post by ClaraC » Tue Apr 24, 2018 9:35 am

Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice on the renewal of a Spouse Visa.

According to the .gov website an application cannot be submitted until 28 days before the current visa expires. However they then say that it can take 2 months for a decision. If this is the case then surely you can end up being here with no visa.

Does anyone have any experience with how long these usually take to be processed? The country of origin is Russia if this makes any difference.

Thanks in advance

Date of application is what matters, not how long it takes for them to process application.

It's all in country decision. You can even get decision on the day at a premium centre.

Thank you

We have a family holiday to Spain booked for the month after the current visa expires. I'm assuming this could be a problem if the visa hasn't been agreed?

If you have travel plans then you should apply in person for a same day decision for the visa extension.

You should not leave the UK while you have an application pending with HO (postal).

Thank you for your swift response

Can anyone reassure me that although they say 2 months for a decision they are normally quicker? Please?

No one can re-assure you as every case is different. Yours could well take more than 2 months.

A colleague of mine got her approval in 5 weeks earlier this year but it is not guaranteed.

If you have plans, you should pay the extra and apply in person or move your travel to a later date.
