Hi everyone
I am an MSc student under Tier 4 visa which will expire in January 2019. I need to ask about exemption from RLMT, will it still be applied from me if I acquired a tier 2 from an employer and want to apply for another more competitive position that still needs the exemption from RLMT or it just works for the first time only you switch from tier 4 into tier 2 ?? also, can I apply for this switch from outside the UK after my visa expires. many thanks for your help in advance.

as long as your tier 4 visa is valid, your potential employer can exempt from the RLNT.

When your visa expires/ or not expired, but apply tier 2 ooutside the uk, your employer must pass the RLMT.

Wrong!! A Tier 4 can switch in country to Tier 2.

Eligibility
You must already be in the UK under any of the following visas or schemes:
Tier 1 visa
Tier 2 (Sportsperson) visa
Tier 2 (Minister of religion) visa
Tier 2 (Intra company Transfer) visa under the Immigration Rules in place before 6 April 2010 and you’re applying to change sponsor
Tier 4 visa - if you have an eligible qualification or you’ve done at least 12 months of a PhD

OP ask if AFTER the visa expires! how can you switch visa in the UK AFTER the visa expired? I mean he/ she can apply TIER2 outside the UK, no matter his/her Tier4 expired or not, but the employer has to pass the market test if the applicant is not in the UK.
