funds to be available

Post by heyaheya » Tue Apr 03, 2018 11:04 am

hello all, hope u had good easter break . just a quick question as i was searching evywhere.. plzz if someone can help.
My sister wants to apply for phd in London after finishing her MSC.
now i jus want to ask how much money she needs to show in her account.
is it full 3 years fees and maintenance funds for 36 months. so for example if her fees is £16,000 per annum
so the total for 36 months will be : 36*16000 =£48000.00
for maintenance funds will it be : 36*1265= £45540.00

i have been reading guidance and it doesnt say anything clearly.. somewhere it says u have to show 1 year fees if the course is more then a year and then it says whatever is writing in case minus what u have paid. maintenance as wwelll.. please please if you can guide me .. many thanks,

That is the same thing. The CAS will confirm what are the required fees for the first year, whatever the length of the course.

I advise you do not dabble in advising your sister on her Tier 4 application. Best to refer her to her Tier 4 sponsor university, who can advise on any aspects of her application she is not clear about. You can also refer her to the information provided by UKCISA:

The link in my previous reply has a clear guide to what money a Tier 4 applicant needs, including the amounts for maintenance which are standard for all students.

For several months you have been posting queries about your Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) extension, which I understand was refused. I am not clear how a Tier 4 leave to remain application fits in, and you do not appear to be eligible to apply in the UK anyway, but you would best get advice from the college or university that is issuing the CAS.

She has misunderstood what the 8-year cap is for. Refer her to the link in my reply on Tue Apr 03, 2018 11:34 am, and tell her to look at the section Time limits > Your course is degree level.
