BC ceremony - what if unable to attend for a few months?

I have nt even bothered to look if this question was asked previously, since it is so off the beaten track.

How many months / years of delay in attending the ceremony is acceptable, if we give notice? This can happen, if due to some pressing reasons, I am stuck abroad after giving biometrics etc.? Also can we attend the ceremony in absentia?

If you’re not living in the UK, you can ask to have your ceremony at the embassy or consulate in the country you’re living in.

If you’re only abroad for a few months, you might be asked to postpone the ceremony until you return to the UK.

If you’re planning to be away for longer, you might have to prove you’re planning to live in the UK permanently.

Its a bit intriguing - does this mean one could ask for a ceremony abroad as a matter of right?
Or will a ceremony will be held in the country you re living in ONLY if you prove that you dont intend to stay away from the UK for long?

But can an APPROVED application for BC be cancelled because the applicant requested BC ceremony abroad, as he may have to be abroad a few months / years, for pressing reasons?
Are there any guidelines for such cancellation after the application process is completed and approved?

Until you go through the ceremony you are not a British citizen yet. There was even a case reported in this forum where an approved applicant who had his citizenship ceremony was later refused a first passport becaue he applied for it right after from abroad raising doubts on his future intentions.

It is only applicable to do this if a person is married to a British citizen and they are both moving abroad for work for example, as vinny's links explain.
