Dependant of the main applicant who is switching to a new employer

Post by Jethro22 » Tue May 15, 2018 2:23 pm

Hello all,

I currently have a UK Tier 2 (employer sponsored) visa expiring in December 2019. My wife came into the UK as my dependant and her visa is also valid up to December 2019. At the moment, there is a plan for me to switch to a new employer, who is also willing to sponsor me. So the key questions are:

(1) Does the dependant need to apply for a new visa because the main applicant has switched to a new employer?
(2) If the dependant needs a new visa, where should the new application be made from (i.e. within the UK or outside the UK)?
(3) If the dependant neews a new visa, when should the new application be made (i.e. at the same time as the main applicant or later)?

I appreciate that there are previous threads about switching employers by the main applicant with dependants, but it would be good to have some fresh insights or updates.

Kind regards,

Jethro22
