CoE for new born baby born in India

Post by badz2011 » Thu May 17, 2018 11:39 am

Hello,

Both myself and wife are naturalised British citizens with OCI and baby was born in India last month. Ideally would like to apply for British passport but as you all know it takes more than 6 months to get one and it will be difficult for me and wife to stay in India for such a long period of time as we both work in UK and would like to return to full time employment. My question is as I hear some folks here managed to apply Indian passport for baby and then apply for CoE(Right to Abode). Is this possible? Can Baby born to British parents with OCI in India is elizable for Indian passport? And then CoE? Please help. Thanks in advance.

As neither parent is Indian, my understanding is that your baby cannot apply for an Indian passport.

CR001: could not agree more but I saw some people managed to apply for Indian passport recently(refer link below) and just wondering if something changed or need an advise from some one here who have done it! Thanks in advance.
