Health Cover of visiting UK

Post by CalLawson » Wed May 23, 2018 7:03 am

Hello All,

I heard that anyone who visits UK and not UK national or resident on a visit visa or residency visa are covered by the UK health system (NHS?) and do not need to purchase any health insurance policy while visiting the UK. Is this true?
or anyone who is on a visit visa or residency visa (not national or resident) should buy a health insurance policy prior reaching the UK?

I like to clarify the person has not yet applied or in the process in applying for a visit or residency to the UK.

Thank you for your help.

Visitors cannot use the free NHS. Best you buy travel insurance.

CR001 has given good advice....any use of NHS facilities will be charged at 150% of the cost :!:
