I have ILR. how can I get my baby the british passport

Post by bravopapa » Sun May 27, 2018 10:53 am

All,

I have ILR and my wife is due in August. I am aware that the baby is automatically british if one of the parents is settled in UK. However I have no idea what to do to get him the british passport.

I am also aware that I need to register him at the local council and get the full birth certificate but:
(1) what shall I do next?

(2) Would you mind sharing any information or home office link that explains the next steps?

I am also about to apply for the british passport. I have done reading on the documents that I should provide

(3) As far as I understand, getting my baby a BC should not stop me from applying myself for the BC (especially if I use the nationality checking service) since only copies of the documents are sent to the HO. Right?

Any help is very appreciated

S

Once child is born, simply regsiter the birth at the Registry office as required to get the birth certificate and then apply directly for a passport.

You will need to send evidence of your ILR.

Thanks. Are you sure this is the right form?

I believe that when the baby is automatically british he does not need to be registered as british.

by the way, MN1 form cost around 1000 pounds.

MN1is incorrect if child is British. Use this and apply for a British passport with evidence of parent’s ILR.

Apologies. MN1 is definitely not the right form. Thought I posted British passport link.
