British Passport For child born before I got ILR

Post by khan81047 » Sun May 27, 2018 2:49 pm

Good Afternoon
Please help he out with your expert guidance and advise.

I was granted my ILR in Jan 2018 on 10 year continuous residence basis, I received a letter with my decision letter that I can register any child born to me as British citizen. I have a child who was born before i got ILR in June 2016 in UK, I have full UK birth certificate which I got when the child was born. Child currently does not old any passport or travel document, I have registered the child with Indian embassy so that I can get birth certificate for future purposes like applying for PIO card etc. Im planning to take the child to India in August 2018, hence need your expert guidance. My query is

1. What is the process to apply for child's British passport, could you guide me through which form needs to be filled in and how much the cost for the process is.
2. Do I need to register my child in council (I have registered with the council so that I could get full birth certificate from them) or any where in order to apply for my child's British passport
3. If yes then could you please guide me through the process and the costs for the process.

Your quick response and kind understanding in this regard is highly appreciated.

Thank you
Kind Regards

MN 1 Refree

Post by khan81047 » Wed May 30, 2018 1:38 pm

Good Afternoon guys
Could you please advise me

Im planning to register my child who is Two years old using MN1 form, I have satisfied all the requirements, but only thing which is confusing is refree's, in the guidance notes of MN 1 form it states two reference are required, one has to be a British citizen (could be professional or over 25 year old) the other has to be profession (any nationality) who has engaged with the child in a professional capacity, such as a teacher, health visitor, social worker or minister of religion.

But when Im applying online second referee's details description is different, It states this referee should be a person (of any nationality) who has professional standing. This can include a minister of religion, civil servant or a member of a professional body such as an accountant or solicitor (who is not representing you with this application) and obviously these people have not engaged with my child in any manner (like accountant or solicitor)

Please advise what to do.
Is there a list of acceptable professional refree's for MN 1 purposes

Thank you

Hi CROO1

Thanks for your help, but the link is for Isle of Mann, can I use this?

This refree who has engaged with the child is so confusing, as I cant trace my child's health visitor, our GP said its not their policy to give out reference as this involves them giving their British passport number, my child is only 2 years old and has not gone to school or nursery, please adivise....

Sure others have been in similar situation and how have they sorted this out, need your valuable input

Thanks

Religious leader, a friend that owns an off licence and a personal licence holder, etc etc.??

HO are not that strict for small children who are UK born and entitled to register.

MN 1 Documents for 2 year old child

Post by khan81047 » Thu May 31, 2018 6:58 pm

Hi Guys
Please help me out with your expert guidance as usual

Im applying MN 1 online for my child who is two year old as the nationality checking service advised me to do so as I want to apply for British passport as well at the same time. My child currently has no passport or travel document.

Strangely it is asking me provide my child's British passport, certificate of British citizenship or evidence of their settled status in the UK, my application is to get this documents for my child, but why is it asking me to submit these, and if not it may be delayed or refused. can you please clarify on this.

Thank you

It is not applicable if your child was born here. You will need to provide evidence that one of the parents has settled status.

Hi Hstepper07
Thank you for the reply.

Document query I had is a mandatory requirement and without ticking the box and confirming that I will submit the document, application is not allowing me to proceed forward.

Please advise

Thank you

Tick yes then. Evidence of your child's settled status will be your ILR or british passport.
